Don Helms, Owner

Having grown up on a farm in Northeast Nebraska, Don is a “farm boy” at heart. Farm life and serving for 21 years in the Army helped to shape and develop qualities that our clients appreciate including honesty, hard working, attention to detail, and common sense. When it comes to choosing the right window coverings for your home, Don is an expert. He has an eye for helping you to select just the right window covering, color, fabric, and options for your home. Don is also a Hunter Douglas Certified Installer and installs the majority of what we sell. This means he knows you and your home well and can assist you in finding the right product, ensuring it will work well with your windows, and you can trust him to provide professional installation. In his spare time Don enjoys spending time with his family, yard care, cooking, sports and his new favorite hobby, scuba diving.

Julie Helms, Owner

Julie grew up on a farm near Columbus Nebraska and, you guessed it, she and Don are married (35 years and counting!). She spent 8 years in the Army before completing her BS in Accounting degree. Julie is an accountant and business consultant with over 25 years of experience helping small businesses get started, grow, and prosper. She puts those skills to work every day with our team and is always learning more about window coverings. She is a Hunter Douglas Certified Consultant, traveled to Colorado to become an HD Certified Installer, and working toward her PowerView Pro certification so she can better serve our clients. Julie is often the first person you see or talk to when your stop by or call. She wears more than a few hats and is always happy to help with whatever is needed. When she has a little free time she loves being with her family, cooking & baking, reading and flower gardening and her favorite new hobby, scuba diving with Don whenever they have the opportunity. 

Madison (Madi) Geary, Sales & Design Consultant

Madi, our newest team member, brings with her a fresh perspective and creativity along with some amazing customer service skills. Madi was born and raised in Omaha and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Bellevue University. She previously worked as a merchandiser for a major retail company where she used and developed her sense of style and problem solving skills while creating clothing displays that showcased products offered. Madi also has an extensive background in customer service, always going above and beyond to please the customer and leave a positive lasting impression. She has an eye for detail and style and loves to help homeowners to create spaces that not only look beautiful, but are functional as well. Madi is a Hunter Douglas Certified Consultant, meaning she has completed extensive training making her the friendly, knowledgeable face who will professionally measure your windows and assist you in selecting the best style, color, and product to make your home authentically yours! In her free time, Madi enjoys spending time with family, watching baseball, doing DIY projects and crafts, and relaxing by the pool. She and her boyfriend are constantly on the go and love including their 1-year-old black lab, Ernie on their adventures.

Larry Klein, Installer

Larry is a Hunter Douglas Certified Installer who specializes in the professional installation of window treatments. With his 30+ years of experience Larry is an important part of our team primarily installing our shutters and the really “high up” stuff! Clients trust and appreciate Larry as much as we do for his friendly smile and professionalism.

Oliver, Showroom Mascot

Oliver is our beloved showroom mascot as well as Don and Julie’s family pet. He welcomes our showroom guests most days, creating smiles and sometimes even receiving a belly rub or a special treat in return. People often guess that he is a Maltese or other similar breed, but he is actually a Coton de Tulear, also known as the “Royal Dog of Madagascar.” Cotons are immensely charming, intelligent, and always ready to play and have fun. Their coats are profusely white and as soft as cotton (or, as the French say, “coton”). As a breed Cotons love their “people” and Oliver is no exception. He is happiest when he is wherever Julie is hanging out.
